The biggest lies

Lately I seen this tweet:

So I copied the list of points mentioned by @catalinmpit and other commenters. To be honest: we did them all.

Procrastination:

  • I’ll test it later.
  • This is just a temporary fix.
  • I’ll document this later.
  • Lemme brute force it now and I’ll make it dynamic later
  • TODO’s
  • I’ll refactor that code later

Estimation:

  • This is not going to take long.
  • Yeah, it’s almost ready…
  • I’m 90% done

Confidence:

  • Weird. it worked on my machine
  • Works locally.
  • It works! I will understand why later.
  • This should work.
  • Just follow this simple guide

And other lies:

  • That case would never happen in real life.
  • Just hardcode the path. It won’t change.
  • It’s just CSS
  • That change doesn’t need to be tested.
  • No meetings scheduled today
  • Works as designed
  • This is only a POC
  • It’s a backend issue.
